On March 20, 2019, our 29 year-old son Osaze Osagie was killed by police during a wellness check. His death was devastating to our family and an irreparable loss to humanity. Osaze loved God with all his heart. He got great joy in studying God’s word in the Holy Bible. Osaze was autistic and had some mental health challenges. His life on earth was not an easy one, as he managed pain with great grace on a daily basis. Still, he brought so much joy to family and friends. His simplicity of faith, his genuine love of people, and his joy in helping others in his orbit touched many lives. The Osaze O. Osagie Mercyseat non-profit organization is set up in his memory to help individuals with mental health challenges, homelessness, and other disabilities. Our goal is to come alongside existing organizations in our community and support them in their vision to provide quality of life care to our most vulnerable populations. In the Spring of 2020, an endowment scholarship was set up at Penn State in his name, to provide quality of life for Penn State students with disabilities. Each year, two students receive the Osaze O. Osagie Memorial Scholarship. In the Spring of 2022, another endowment scholarship was set up through the Centre Foundation in support of State College Area High school students of color who volunteer in the State College community. The Osaze O. Osagie Mercyseat non-profit organization is intended to widen our reach beyond the educational institutions Osaze attended to touch the wider Centre County region and the State of Pennsylvania. Locals as well as concerned citizens throughout the United States have supported us in our endeavors thus far. We have faith that you, too, would reach deep into your hearts and your resources to touch lives in our community and beyond.

We believe we can make the world a better place for all as we give our lives in service of those who need us most.
